A spin-off from the successful television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel was a television series that did air for several seasons beginning in 1999. The Angel box set provides fans of the program the chance to relieve the drama (and not a small amount of tongue and cheek humor) that was the Angel series. The premise of Angel is the story of a vampire called Angel. After murdering a gypsy, surviving gypsies in the clan of the deceased restored Angel's human soul to him as punishment for that murder. As a consequence, after “living” (so to speak) as a vampire for over a century, after having killed and murdered numerous innocent people during that time period, Angel – with his human soul restored – now faces tremendous guilt and remorse for his conduct.
During the initial four seasons of the series, Angel ends up working for a private detective agency in Los Angeles. Through this agency, Angel and his associates at the agency work to help the helpless and save the souls of people who have lost their way for one reason or another.
The efforts of Angel and those at the agency normally include battling the powers of darkness and evil beings that are involved in causing harm to these innocent people Angel now attempts to save. As can be seen, the program offered dark story line sand moody plots. From time to time there were tie ins between Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (from which Angel originally spun off from).
Today Angel can be seen in some communities in syndication. Moreover, the series can be accessed through the Angel box set as well. The Angel DVD collection would be a great addition to any home that includes people who enjoyed the series during its initial run. For those people who did not have the chance to view the show when broadcast on network television, the collection is a great way to take in what generally has been regarded as a good television series.
During its original run Angel attracted solid critical acclaim. Additionally, Angel attracted a loyal and steady fan and viewer base from the beginning to the end of its initial run on television.
