Charmed is a very popular and multiple award winning television series that was broadcast beginning in 1998. Charmed DVD went off the air; however, not because of a decline in ratings. Rather, Charmed ended up off the air because the Warner Brother's Television Network – which broadcast the show – ceased operating. Despite the fact that no original episodes of Charmed DVD are being produced and broadcast, the Charmed DVD box set is available to interested consumers at this time.
The storyline of Charmed follows the lives of the four Halliwell sisters: Paige, Piper, Phoebe and Prue. The sisters are the progeny of a long line of powerful and yet good witches. Although the “normal community” surrounding the sisters have no idea that these women have special powers, their calling actually is battle a whole host of evil beings – including demons and warlocks. They serve to protect the lives of innocent people from these evil beings.
As can be seen in the Charmed DVD series, each of the sisters possesses a very unique power. These powers can be seen to evolve and grow over the course of the episodes contained in the Charmed DVD box set. All the while the sisters possess these amazing and extraordinary powers, they maintain normal working lives and live together in their ancestral home in San Francisco.
Beyond their supernatural obligations, the women on Charmed also face many of the same issues that people from all walks of life have to deal with. For example, the women have had to deal with relationships, careers, marriage, child birth, death and a whole array of other issues. The combination of the supernatural and the everyday is what really made Charmed a powerhouse program on television – and the Charmed DVD set a best seller even today.
By 2006, Charmed had become the longest running television series featuring a cast with all female leads. As mentioned previously, the Charmed series has won a variety of different awards. These include the show winning ASCAP, Family Television and Young Artist awards among others. And, as was also noted, Charmed DVD received solid ratings throughout its lifetime on television.
In addition to the Charmed box set, the program is being broadcast in many communities in syndication. Moreover, there are a variety of different products that have been inspired by the Charmed television show. This includes a board game and a video game, books and other items.
